Don’t • Include too many photos on your opening page, as they tend to slow down the access.

• Have too many layers requiring a great deal of mouse clicking.

• Insist on registration simply to get on your site.

• Be anonymous; provide contact names and e mail addresses.

• Ever forget that the site is a sales tool first and not someplace to show “cool” stuff that does not contribute to your sales and advertising goals.

The key to good search engine placement is content. The more information that you offer on your subject, the more likely your web page will achieve a high ranking. Many search engines examine the content of a page to see if it is really related to the targeted keywords. They also measure word count.

Search engines have a hard time indexing web sites that are in frames or that have a Flash introduction. Keep your front page simple with content that is relevant. This will give you a better chance of rising in the rankings.
